Intermodal transport
The glossary of statistical terms, published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), defines intermodal transport as: ‘Movement of goods (in one and the same loading unit or a vehicle) by successive modes of transport without handling of the goods themselves when changing modes.’
Where an intermodal transport unit is a: ‘Container, swap body or semi-trailer/goods road motor vehicle suitable for intermodal transport.’
